Elf
The Musical
we have been asked to help out with Elf the musical, all that would be needed from us was some ideas on what the little elves makeups could look like. As these are only little children they didn't want them to have to much of a heavy makeup look but wanted them to still have something that made them look cute and maybe a bit of colour to match there outfits as they have about 6 different coloured elves in the show. So as a team we came up with some ideas on some face charts, some with coloured eye shadow, some with lots of glitter, rosey cheeks, red lips. In the end the director decided on rosey cheeks and noses, shimmer on the eyelid, drawn on freckles on the cheeks and a red lip.
Elf will be doing 3 shows a day over 2 weeks (no show on a Sunday) so between first and second years we needed a schedule to make sure we had people in on every day as while we are doing elf we also have Alice and the cold case film running along side this that needs makeup doing aswel.
My first day in was Tuesday 7th December and we needed to be in for 9 o'clock as the elves makeup needed to be done for them to start their first show at 10 o'clock. Some of the children came in with their base makeup already on so the first child I done only needed blush, freckles, shimmer on the eyelid and a red lip doing, my second child didn't have any makeup on at all, so i have to do her foundation, bronzer to add a little glow (contour would have been to heavy) blush, freckles, mascara, eye shadow, and the red lip.
Wednesday 8th December - today I only had to put makeup on one of the elves as we had more make up artists in today, also make of the elves came in with there makeup already applied, so just a top up of blusher, shimmer on the eyelid, some drawn on freckles and a red lip that needed to be applied.
Thursday 9th December - Today there were a different cast of elves in on the morning, so there were more that came in and needed make up doing, i applied makeup to two of the elves then just checked in with the others and made sure the other elves were all stage ready, I helped one with her hair then helped another with her costume. Once all the elves where ready to go we got set up for our next makeup which was for the film Alice and the cold case. Before the afternoon show the Elf cast had changed again so we had a few more elves to get ready for the show and a few touch ups on the elves that had stayed from the morning show.
