House of Zana held a charity fashion show at Teesside airport to raise money for Alice House Hospice, The Great North Air Ambulance and Middlesbrough FC Foundation they also had other local supporting business's helping out as well as some of the Art students being able to showcase some of their own designs. We got the amazing opportunity to work with them and create the hair and makeup looks for all the models. We arrived at the airport and got taken through to a room where we were able to find spaces to set up ready for the models to arrive. Since the college had brought five of their own models to help out as well, we already had these five to get started on while we waited for the organisers models to arrive.

One of our second year MUA's designed the makeup look and hair style we used for the models, Once I was all set up I started the makeup on one of our college students. While I was doing the make up the room soon started to fill up. We had people coming around taking photos, (some for college, some for the organisers) the clothes got brought in with the designers starting to sort them and allocate them to the models, the other models arriving, people changing, organisers coming in and out. It soon got busy! I always act professional when I work, even more so in this case since this was my first time working on something that wasn't organised by the college. This was such a great opportunity to see how things work in the industry not just in college.
my work |
I understand why MUA's tend to have a lot of extras in their kits that other people wouldn't really think was needed, such as portable makeup chairs, because we where in an office we had office chairs for our models to use, which if you where working like this all the time or for long hours this would result in back pain. Portable ring light is a really good thing to take with you as the lighten in the room wasn't the best for gauging how the makeup would look under the lights on the catwalk even the models had mentioned why we didn't have any with us. Deodorant was another thing I got asked for, which lucky enough I always have with my anyways. My kit will continue to grow with me!
seeing my work on camera is an amazing experience |
